1. Beyond the demographics, the iPad’s interactivity (aka touchscreen) may make shopping easier than desktop, despite the smaller screen size. A 2011 study reported that 52% of tablet owners prefer to shop online using their tablets, while 40% preferred using a traditional computer.

2. Mobile Shoppers Are More Focused.

Mobile searchers and shoppers are task-focused and more specific in what they’re seeking.
In contrast, a full desktop site is packed with brand-related content, community interaction, company information and detailed research methods. Mobile, on the other hand, is lean, mean and clean.

Where is the rule book that states that the kitchen has to be next to the dining room? There isn't one. It makes sense because it's efficient. No one taught us that, we do it naturally.

We pigeon hole our daily lives into routine, all for the purpose of efficiency. After all if we're efficient we get more done, and if we get more done we can … well you know.

But that's the problem. If social media is 'the conversation' then the platforms they are on can't be.

Facebook is not social media as much as a cave wall is not social media - the painting on it is. Platforms cannot be social media, digital cannot be social media, they can only be a place where social media, at some level, takes place.

Therefore, if 2012 is the year that we become exhausted with social media (platforms), and i hope we do, then what is it people have been doing?

Having a conversation methinks - it just happens that it was on something like facebook or twitter.

But I think facebook and twitter were too 'wide' a platform, i.e not niche enough. We know humans herd, and we know humans subscribe to specific uniforms such as golfing or mountain biking. Therefore, what we need are 'dashboards' that allow that subscription to be fulfilled.

Netiquette. I find it fascinating that the general rule of 'Netiquette' is so closely related to 'etiquette' and yet is still not adhered to.

Why?

Simple really, the protective bubble of an API (application programming interface) in other words a computer. No different to a car really, to some the protective bubble that is a car gives rise to abuse - something that most people would not even think about doing unless they were in their 'protective bubble'.

The difference is the 'delusional' behaviour of the instigator. The self proclaimed gatherer of the truth. But the reality being that they're only convincing themselves that they're right at the cost of their own integrity and the environment around them.

The reality being that in the main no one has made a mistake. They just thought that someone had and, therefore, convinced themselves that it was so.

This year I have learned that I have an illness called bipolar disorder. I'm still coming to terms with what that means other than a fancy way of saying 'artistic temperament'. But I am aware that something is, well not wrong, more is it's there.

Bipolar to me is a chemically induced roller-coaster ride of emotions, massive highs followed my massive lows. Both of which, perversely, I wouldn't change for anything!

I am who I am and always have been, if I change now then I'm only betraying myself. And that will ultimately fail.

What I am learning though is to control the chemicals in my head, and to this end I have changed my lookout to everyday existence. No longer will I or do I over stretch myself in the vain hope that I can convince myself that overworking is the right thing to do.

In other words I've slowed down my work a day world. I do what I need to then go and play golf.

Why not? The world didn't stop when I was ill, it didn't miss me - and for that matter I didn't miss it. What I do miss is life.

Life is important, people are important, not a self induced work ethic based on societal pressures.

And that brings me to another matter - societal pressures.
